It’s on to the next round of the playoffs for the Prince Albert Vulcans.

The U18 AA team wrapped up its first-round series against the Northeast Wolfpack last week with a 6-3 victory in game four.

The Vulcans won the best of five series three games to one winning game one 5-2, before falling by that same score in game two. Game three was a 4-0 win for the Vulcans who closed out the series in Tisdale in game four.

Matthew Cudmore and Keestin Danielson led the way in scoring that first round with three goals and three assists each.

Danielson is also celebrating another major achievement, as he was recently named the male athlete of the year by M30 Goalie.

The organization promotes active and healthy lifestyles while empowering, educating, and encouraging Indigenous youth in First Nations Communities.

Danielson is from Opaskwayak Cree Nation in northern Manitoba and joined the Prince Albert Minor Hockey Association in the 2014-2015 season, being named captain of the PA Bruins in 2019.

With the Vulcans last season, he averaged 1.55 points per game.

Meanwhile, Brayden Lyons has been stellar in net with three wins, including one shutout.

Next up for the Vulcans is a playoff series with the Saskatoon Riverkings, who finished fourth in the north division standings. The Riverkings swept northwest three games to none winning 8-2, 7-1, and 6-1 respectively.

Game one of the second round for the Vulcans starts Tuesday night at the Kinsmen Arena. Puck drop is at 7:45 p.m.

Game two will be held Thursday at Merlis Belsher Place in Saskatoon at 8:15 p.m. with game three set for Saturday in P.A. at 8:15 p.m.

If necessary, game four will be held in Saskatoon at 7:45 p.m. while game five will be at the Kinsmen Arena at 8:15 p.m.
