Wanted man captured by RCMP after 1.5-year search

A man who has been on Saskatchewan’s Most Wanted list for over a year-and-a-half is back behind bars.

Braden Ballantyne was located and arrested Wednesday at a residence in Deschambault Lake.

He was scheduled to appear Thursday at La Ronge Provincial Court.

On July 9, 2021, Ballantyne, who was 23 at the time, was charged by Deschambault Lake RCMP for assault with a weapon.

He failed to appear for a court appearance and subsequently charged with failure to comply with a release order condition.

According to court records, Ballantyne is accused a using a frying pan to commit assault. He also charged with endangering life, having allegedly used a pellet gun to fire at three people.
