Raiders to select 15th overall in CHL Import Draft
Import players have played massive roles for the Prince Albert Raiders in recent years and been part of some of the biggest moments in team history. From Tikhon Chaika setting the modern franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender, to Aliaksei Protas and Sergei Sapego helping lead the team to their 2019 WHL championship, to Leon Draisaitl lighting up the league, import selections have had some big impacts on the franchise.
The Raiders will have an opportunity to find the next impact player from overseas at the CHL Import Draft on July 5. The CHL announced the draft order today, and the Raiders know they will hold the 15th overall selection when the draft begins.
The Raiders can make at least one pick in the draft as they only have one European player (goaltender Chaika) on their roster at the moment. Their second pick, should they choose to make it, will be 75th overall.
Previous picks at 15th overall in the import draft include defenseman Stanislav Svozil to the Regina Pats in 2020, Ondrej Palat in 2009, and Matyas Sapovaliv in 2021, who’s put up back-to-back 50-point seasons for Saginaw in the OHL.
