A Prince Albert murder case that dates back over three years, will proceed to trial this fall at Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert.

Kyle Thurston Bear, Bruce Allan Napope and George Samuel Custer, have all been charged with second degree murder in relation to the January 2020 death of Tyson Lafonde.

Trial dates of Oct. 30 to Nov. 24, were confirmed during last Friday’s pre-trial conference.

While the circumstances surrounding Lafonde’s death remain unclear, it is alleged to be gang related and happened just months after the death of Dylan Chretien.

Multiple people were charged in connection to the Lloydminster man’s death and it was revealed during a sentencing hearing for two of the involved Lafonde had played a significant role in the assault.

A warrant for Kyle Bear’s arrest was issued by the Prince Albert Police in Oct. 2021. Police indicated at the time he should be considered dangerous and should not be approached.

In August 2019, Bear was one of three people charged after a drive-by shooting on Marquis Road. While it was alleged he was the one who pulled the trigger, injuring an 18-year-old woman, the charge was eventually stayed by the Crown.

In Nov. 2022, George Samuel Custer received a life sentence for the death of David Jordan Charles. The 28-year-old was killed in Pelican Narrows in March 2019
