La Ronge Children’s Festival planned for Canada Day

Jun 7, 2023 | 5:00 PM

The La Ronge Children Festival has found enough interested volunteers to go ahead with planning activities on Canada Day.

“We have some great board members who are helping out and who want this children’s festival to take place,” said board members Sean Stares, noting they are still working out the details.

Earlier this year, there was a call out for volunteers for both the La Ronge Children’s Festival and the La Ronge and Area Pride Festival. There was a chance both would be cancelled without additional help, but both annual events ultimately found enough volunteers to hold activities in the coming weeks.

The La Ronge Children’s Festival will occur July 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Patterson Park. Stares added it will be similar to previous years with face painters, a balloon twister, music and other entertainment like Singing with Sylvia, a magician from Kazam Entertainment and the Northern Prairie Dancers with Modeste McKenzie have all been confirmed.

“It’s important for a wide variety of things,” Stares said. “Community pride for one. Having it on Canada Day … is a great time for the family to be entertained and to enjoy each other’s company in a beautiful park.”

If anyone is interested in being a food or art vendor at the event, they are encouraged to reach out to Viviana Ruiz Arcand on Facebook. Priority will be given to local and regional vendors with an emphasis on children and youth products.

Anyone wishing to be part of the local entertainment should email larongechildrensfestival@gmail.com.
