Garry Childerhose joins Village Sports/Global Sport Academy as the North Battleford Coach

Garry Childerhose, local hockey expert and current Associate Head Coach with the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars, brings a wealth of experience in coaching and management to his new role of Global Sport Academy Coach, North Battleford.

Village Sports and Global Sport Academy proudly announces the appointment of Garry Childerhose as the North Battleford Coach. His passion for hockey and proven track record make him an invaluable addition to the Global Sport Academy program in North Battleford.

Garry’s journey in the hockey world began as a player, where he spent three years showcasing his skills with the Melfort Mustangs. His consistent outstanding performances on the ice earned him a reputation as a talented and dedicated player. Building on his success, Garry continued his hockey journey by joining SUNY-Geneseo of the NCAA, further refining his skills and knowledge of the game.

In 2014, Garry’s coaching career took off when he joined the Flin Flon Bombers as an Assistant Coach. Garry’s coaching prowess extended beyond his role as an assistant coach, as he also served as the team’s assistant General Manager for two seasons. Under his guidance, the team reached the Canalta Cup finals in both the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons, demonstrating his exceptional leadership skills and ability to motivate players to excel in high-pressure situations.

Garry’s coaching abilities were further recognized when he took on the head coach role for 14 games during the World Junior A Challenge, posting an impressive record of 13-1. His performance earned him the Dwight McMillan Award, an esteemed accolade that acknowledges him as the SJHL’s top assistant coach.

Garry has been with the Battlefords North Stars organization since 2021, and is currently the Associate Head Coach.

Garry’s wealth of experience and deep understanding of the game make him an ideal fit as the Coach, Global Sport Academy, and with his dedication, knowledge and proven track record, Garry aims to drive excellence and foster a culture of success within the North Battleford hockey community.

With Garry Childerhose now part of the Village Sports and Global Sport Academy team, the organization is poised to continue its mission of providing exceptional sports development opportunities for athletes in the North Battleford area, and to leave youth sports better than we found it.

Global Sport Academy is designed so students can pursue their passion in an empowering program that is supported by academic and athletic leadership – all within the regular school timetable. Global Sport Academy is launching programming in North Battleford in September 2023 for Grades 7 – 12. Student-athletes in the high school level programs (Grade 10 – 12) can earn High School as part of the Global Sport Academy program.
