The Nipawin Exhibition set to start this week

After a storm looked to put a halt to the event, the community pulled together to ensure the Nipawin exhibition goes ahead with the opening day set for Wednesday.

President of the Nipawin Exhibition Association Deb Lacheur told northeastNOW that although there are repairs that won’t be completed, if it wasn’t for the help of the community there would be no exhibition at all.

“Truly, if it hadn’t been for the Town of Nipawin and the work crew, that always helps us we’d have been cancelling because we lost 150 trees. They went above and beyond and they made it possible.”

On top of the usual attractions like the chuck wagon races, midway and food vendors, there will be a return of an indoor favourite.

“This year we have the indoor exhibits back in a whole different format with a whole different look. Unfortunately, they still aren’t on the actual grounds. They’re just gonna be in the Apostolic Church building just down the street.”

There will be local businesses, a cookie decorating contest and horticulture workshops to attend. There will also be a showcase for artwork.

This year’s art exhibition featured a way for youth to submit their artwork via a QR code. This was to showcase what they worked on during the school year.

For those looking to enjoy live entertainment, Donny Parenteau & Friends, Elvis’ impersonator show and Constant Reminder will be hitting the mainstage.

The Nipawin Exhibition runs from July 17 to 19.
