When life gives you lemons

A glass of lemonade could make a wish come true

When life gives you lemons you make lemonade and donate the proceeds to Make-A-Wish.

With the summer heat getting everyone warm, there is no better treat than a cold glass of lemonade from a stand set up in the community.

Development Officer for Make-A-Wish Canada Saskatchewan Region Tamara Kerluke-Holowatuik told northeastNOW that this fundraiser is a lighthearted take on a summer classic.

“It’s kind of nice because for lots of kids hosting a lemonade stand is a staple of their summer activities.”

From July to the end of September youth are encouraged to set up a stand and donate the proceeds to Make-A-Wish.

For adults looking to get involved, the organization is also asking businesses to sell lemon-themed items to donate to the campaign.

All money raised will go towards the life changes wishes for children with critical illnesses in the province.

Kerluke-Holowatuik explained that they are encouraging not only families in the Northeast but across the province to donate their time to help make a child’s dream come true.

“It’s a big help to make which Canada and it will help change the life of a child here.”

There is currently a waitlist of 214 wishes yet to be granted with 64 being granted in 2022.

The hope is that this fundraiser will lend itself to help make magic happen for those who need a boost.

“We grant several different types of wish. Some of those are to go wish for a trip or to have a puppy. So there are lots of different things we do. Our focus is to bring some joy and hope to children in the province,” said Kerluke-Holowatuik.

All money raised from the Lemonade for Wishes campaign will help local kids in the community.
