The Hawks will have their two new forwards in the lineup Sunday afternoon when Nipawin hosts Notre Dame at the Centennial Arena.

General Manager and Head Coach Tad Kozun has finalized all the paperwork for Artem Hrabovetskyi and Alex Bernauer meaning both will make their Nipawin debuts.

“You have high expectations for them, but you must realize it’s their first game in a while too. We’re definitely excited to have them in the lineup and see what our forward group can do,” Kozun said Sunday morning.

The additions put Nipawin at eight 2003-born players, the most you can have in the lineup in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Kozun added that bringing in two top-six forwards makes the lineup deeper, and he’s excited to work with the roster.

“It was nice to get them into practice and figure of the chemistry and change a few things up,” he said. “When you add two guys like that it adds a lot of depth to your lineup, and you can start playing with things a little bit more. We’re definitely excited to start doing things like that.”

Nipawin hasn’t played since Tuesday when they fell 3-2 to the Flin Flon Bombers. Notre Dame has been in La Ronge for back-to-back weekend games against the Ice Wolves. Last weekend the Hawks capped a weekend road trip in Wilcox with a 4-3 loss to the Hounds. Kozun said with a rested roster Nipawin wants to return the favor to the Hounds.

“Three in threes are always tough. We’ve been off since Tuesday after a long four in five, so it’s something we have to be ready for. Notre Dame is 4-1 in their last five, we have to be ready to go today,” he said.

Faceoff is 3 p.m. at the Centennial Arena.
