Hawks soar over Hounds
The Nipawin Hawks ousted the Notre Dame Hounds 6-1 Sunday at the Centennial Arena.
Looking for revenge after the Hounds upended Nipawin last Sunday in Wilcox, the Hawks vowed to regain the season series lead at the ‘Cage.’
Newcomer Alex Bernauer scored his first goal as a Hawk in the first period. Chase Visser picked up the game winning goal in the first as well and the home team never looked back. Visser added a pair of assists in the win as well. The 20-year-old Barrhead, Alta. product never used the weekend scheduling as an excuse for Nipawin’s loss last week or the fact the Hounds were playing their third game in three days.
“We had to take it to them, right from the beginning,” Visser said. “We knew we kind of gave them one, it doesn’t matter if it’s the backend of a three-in-three, we have to show up and we didn’t. We had to take it to them today, and we did.”
