North Stars take sixth straight in weekend sweep of Red Wings
The Battlefords North Stars extended their winning streak to six games Saturday, sweeping their weekend series with the Weyburn Red Wings with a 5-3 win in North Battleford.
The power play led the way for the North Stars on the night, as each of Hunter Burgeson, Tanner Gold, and Jordan Grill cashed in for a goal apiece with the man-advantage.
Josh Medernach’s first as a North Star, and Rylan Williams’ fifth of the season – and second in his last two games – rounded out the scoring for the team.
A 1-1 game at the end of the first, and 3-1 Battlefords advantage through 40 minutes, in the third, the Wings would tally a pair, though ultimately it would not be enough, with the North Stars taking the 5-3 final.
