Putting the fun in fundraising!

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) Humboldt is holding their annual Bowl For Kids Sake fundraiser at Kemway Lanes through Friday.

Marketing and Events Support for BBBS Tammy Ruedig told northeastNOW the long-standing event is now in its 44th year.

“We get businesses to sponsor teams, collect pledges from family and friends, they come in, they bowl,” Ruedig explained. “It’s a great fundraiser for us.”

All of the money raised stays in Humboldt to help Big Brothers Big Sisters with their programming and recruitment. Ruedig said it’s a fun week of businesses getting together, bowling with their colleagues, and raising money for a good cause.

This is one of two major BBBS fundraisers throughout the year along with their golf tournament that is held in June. Ruedig said they have a fundraising goal in mind for Bowl for Kids Sake.

“Our goal would be to raise about $20,000 so I think we’re on track to come close to that again this year,” Ruedig said.

While the purpose of Bowl for Kids Sake is to raise as much money as possible for BBBS programming, Ruedig said participants do have some incentives for their philanthropy.

“We usually do some gift cards and things like that for the highest pledge earner,” Ruedig explained.

There are also trophies handed out to local businesses involved in the friendly competition including financial institutions, the schools, and car dealerships. The highest student pledge-earner is awarded a new Chromebook courtesy of This Is Your Computer.

Ruedig thanked all sponsors for their support in helping to make this event possible.
