NBFD warns people to stay clear of rivers and lakes during break up
It’s breakup season – of ice that is.
The North Battleford Fire Department has issued a warning to residents of the Battlefords to stay away from the rivers and lakes. According to a news release issued by the City of North Battleford, the ice is currently thinning and, in some locations, breaking up.
“Our Fire Department is monitoring ice conditions in the area,” said Chief Lindsay Holm in the release.
He explained the department anticipates some flooding in certain areas and ask that vehicles and pedestrians stay clear of the riverbanks and shores.
