Standing before a judge, a man who was found in possession of a prohibited weapon while there was a warrant out for his arrest, said he was sorry and admitted mistakes were made.
Fabian Sylvestre, 35, appeared in person on Thursday at Prince Albert Provincial Court. Guilty pleas were entered to a pair of gun related offences as well as breach of a court order. He received a three year prison sentence and is prohibited for life from owning or possessing any firearms, ammunition or explosives
The case dates back to October, 2023, when members of the Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team (CRT) and the Prince Albert Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team (STRT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2800 block of Dunn Drive. Officers had been investigating a cocaine trafficking operation.
In a basement bedroom, officers found a sawed off .410 shotgun. The gun was not loaded but there was ammunition located nearby.
