Melfort’s Lambert hired as assistant coach for Toronto Maple Leafs
A Melfort hockey coach is heading to The Six for his next gig in the NHL.
On Wednesday morning, it was announced that Lane Lambert was hired as the assistant coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs. He will be replacing Dean Chynoweth, who the club said will not be returning after three years on the bench.
The 59-year-old Lambert joins the Leafs after serving as the head coach of the New York Islanders for the last two seasons before being relieved of his duties midway through this past season. While the head coach, he accumulated a 61-46-20 (W-L-OTL) record.
