Plus Industries granted Community Airtime Award

Jul 10, 2024 | 5:29 PM

Plus Industries in Melfort will soon be the benefactor of a ton of free advertising.

The non-profit group is the recipient of the Community Airtime Award, which will grant them over $50,000 worth of radio airtime, courtesy of 105 CJVR and 750 Beach Radio.

“I was very pleased when I found out we won, all the staff are super excited and enthusiastic about how this is going to promote Plus Industries. We’re really looking forward to it,” said Plus Industries general manager, Sharon Chetwynd.

“The amount was amazing because we would never be able to spend that much money on advertising. We’ve looked at various options in the past with small promotions, but our biggest priority has been putting our money into our programs for our individuals, so this will just make things so much easier.”

Plus Industries has been in the community for over 40 years and supports over 60 individuals with various challenges. They offer seven different departments and services where these people can access and develop their skills.

They operate the local SARCAN, Plus Stuff Junction, a woodshop, a confidential shredding department, a recycling department, a yard and snow care team, local cleaning contracts, and even a group home.

“This is a prime opportunity to put our name out there and sort of let the community know what else we do other than just recycle. The community has heard of us, but I just don’t think they always know all of what we do,” Chetwynd added.

Now that the award has been handed out, the sales team at the radio stations and Plus Industries will work together to build some carefully crafted advertisements, which will soon after broadcast across the region.

“I feel that Plus Industries deserves to make people aware that people with a disability are just as able as everyone else, they just do things slightly differently, but that’s okay.”
