Loon Lake RCMP issues warning following rise in crime

Jul 26, 2024 | 7:14 AM

Loon Lake RCMP are issuing an advisory to residents after a rise in reported thefts and break-and-enters over the last four weeks.

Police are asking people to report any suspicious activity immediately, and to ensure that their cabins, houses and outbuildings are safe guarded with locks, motion lights, and video surveillance if available.

RCMP are also advising the public that if they are leaving their property unattended, they should arrange for someone to check it regularly or even daily. Additionally, police suggest that residents put away property inside the cabin/residence and close all curtains/blinds so nothing is visible. They also ask residents to be vigilant when checking on their neighbours property when they are not there and to immediately report anything unusual, so police can coordinate a priority response.

The Mounties are requesting that all community members download the Everbridge App on their cell phones to receive timely notifications from the police. Community members signed up on Everbridge are being encouraged to share the app with others.
