It could be a case of déjà vu for the North Battleford Beavers.

The senior baseball team has a chance to clinch back-to-back titles in the North Sask. River Baseball League (NSRBL) against the Standard Hill Lakers on Tuesday.

In their opening round matchup, the Beavers swept the Glaslyn Orioles 2-0 in their best-of-three set before edging the Lashburn Cardinals in an exciting series. Heading into a deciding Game 3, North Battleford managed to topple Lashburn 6-5 in extra innings to advance to the Finals against Standard Hill.

After beating the Lakers 7-3 in Game 1 and on the cusp of a second consecutive championship, Player/Coach Kyle Gregoire is feeling confident ahead of Game 2.

“We have a great group of players and are eager to finish [it] off,” he said in an email. “Looking to have a mix of great pitching and defense throughout the game and capitalize on some timely batting.” Prior to last season, the Beavers hadn’t won a championship in 26 years when they won it all in 1997, which was the final title of a four-year dynasty.

First pitch is slated for 6:00 p.m. in Standard Hill.
