‘The building was completely charged with black smoke’: Fire chief describes golf resort fire
Black smoke from floor to ceiling and temperatures exceeding 800 degrees fahrenheit.
That’s how Jim Arnold, the fire chief at Candle Lake is describing the inside conditions during Monday’s fire at the golf resort.
The initial call for help went out around 12:30 a.m. and Arnold recalled when he was en route, learning by way of his radio there were two smoke detectors going off in the basement and another on the main floor.
Upon arriving at the scene, and with the help of a key holder, Arnold began looking at the windows and observed black smoke pouring out from the crack between the steel frame and the steel door at the front entrance.
