Oct 2, 2024 | 12:28 PM

SaskEnergy is informing the public they will be doing natural gas flaring from 5 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Friday, October 4 at the existing valve site in the RM of Cut Knife, nine kilometres northwest of the Town of Cut Knife.

Residents in the area may see a 40-foot flame being emitted from the flare stack temporarily attached to SaskEnergy’s infrastructure.

This is necessary and standard maintenance work for the natural gas line system and is done to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas to SaskEnergy’s customers. The process works by isolating a portion of the gas line from the system so a controlled burn called a flare can be performed on the line.

Natural gas services in the area will not be affected and the area where the flaring is taking place will be supervised. The RM of Cut Knife local fire department have been notified of this event.
