A man from Edmonton is now arrested after he fled from police during a traffic stop in Lloydminster.

The Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) began investigating a police evasion on Monday after officers tried to stop a car at the intersection of 47 Avenue and 36 Street, but the driver escaped by going east on 44 Avenue.

After some time, they located the car on 44 Avenue, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. Subsequent investigations led to the driver being charged with three offences: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officers, and two counts of failing to comply with release order.

The man will stay in custody until Oct. 31.
