Warrant issued after man fires gun on Big Island Lake Cree Territory

A warrant has been issued for one person after a firearm was discharged at a residence on Big Island Lake Cree Territory.

The incident happened on Saturday evening, just after 5:00 p.m., where police determined that a man was sitting in a vehicle parked near a home. Then, a man armed with a firearm exited the home and shot at the vehicle. The man inside was not hurt.

As a result of investigation, police have issued a warrant and have charged 23-year-old Trent Oseemeemow with one count each of discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possessing a firearm when knowing unauthorized, possessing a firearm when prohibited, failing to comply with release order conditions, and mischief/damage to property over $5000.

Oseemeemow is also wanted on a warrant from Pierceland RCMP for breaching court ordered conditions and failing to attend court.

He is from Big Island Lake Cree Territory and is described as being around 5’11” tall and 165 lbs with brown eyes and brown hair.
