Western All-Star Showcase wrap up, WJAC coaches announced
The Western All-Stars showcase challenge came to end this week in Warman with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) both getting a win to tie the two-game series.
For the first game on Tuesday, it was team MJHL that came away with the victory, winning 4-2.
Matt Thomas and Blake Matheson opened up the scoring in the first period to take an early 2-0 for Team MJHL. Then Connor Miller answered back for the SJHL getting a goal to make it a 2-1 game going into the second.
In the second period, the MJHL striked first again, finding the back of the net from Dru Mushumanski to extend the lead to 3-1. But the SJHL was able to close the gap with a goal from Battlefords North Stars forward, Rylan Williams, making it 3-2. Then just after the mid-way point of the second, the MJHL tallied another goal, again from Dru Mushumanski to take a 4-2 lead.
