Santa Anonymous returns to Prince Albert

The Optimist Club of Prince Albert and 900 CKBI are teaming up once again this holiday season to help bring toys to the less fortunate boys and girls in our city.

The Santa Anonymous toy drive has been an active program in P.A. for over six decades, with their first drive happening in 1961.

Vince Parker, a longtime member of the Optimist Club, explained how the public can do their part to help make sure a child has a memorable Christmas this year.

“We ask that the public purchase a new toy for a girl or a boy – don’t wrap it, and place it in one of the brightly colored toy depots, little houses located around the city.”

The donation bins will be located at various places and businesses around Prince Albert, including Walmart, Best Buy, Superstore, Canadian Tire, Winners, City Hall, Gateway Mall, Winter Wonderland, and the Art Hauser Centre.

“We collect these toys and donate them to the Salvation Army, who distribute them at Christmas to less fortunate families in our community,” continued Parker. “This program has been very successful in the past due to the generous and caring citizens of our community. We ask again this year, please open up your hearts and your wallets and help us bring some Christmas cheer to the less fortunate children in our city.”

The toy drive is just one of many Optimist Club initiatives in P.A. over the year and their second around Christmas, as they also host Winter Wonderland at the Gateway Mall.
