Mustangs stay #3 in CJHL Top 20 rankings

The Melfort Mustangs remain the third-ranked team in the country.

The Mustangs remain third in the CJHL’s Top 20 rankings this week after extending their winning streak to 12 games.

Melfort started their weekend with a 3-2 win over Humboldt at the Northern Lights Palace on Friday, after the Broncos staked themselves to a 2-0 lead after one period.

The Mustangs earned a 5-2 win in Humboldt the following night, thanks in part to two goals and two assists from Ashton Hutchinson.

Melfort is now 23-4-0-0 on the season, and they lead the SJHL standings by eleven points.

The Weyburn Red Wings enter the rankings at number 20, while the Flin Flon Bombers were an honourable mention.

The Mustangs travel to Wilcox to face the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday.
