Prince Albert warrant enforcement project results in 49 arrests

A special initiative by the Prince Albert Police Service Proactive Policing Unit (PPU) to locate and apprehend offenders with outstanding warrants, has had some good results.

November’s project led to 49 arrests and 114 warrants were executed. Those warrants included but are not limited to offences such as, breaching court ordered conditions, assault, break and enter, sexual assault, theft under $5000, and possession of a weapon.

Throughout this time period there was 47 self-generated calls, 17 new charges were laid, and one stolen vehicle was recovered.

“Proactive policing initiatives would not be successful without the determination and dedication of our officers. We prioritize the safety and the wellbeing of our community by locating and apprehending offenders who feel the rules don’t apply to them,” said Chief of Police Patrick Nogier.

As part of the project, members worked with a Criminal Analyst and attended multiple residences.

Information Management staff (PRMC) assisted these efforts by ensuring appropriate disclosure was completed following each arrest and outlined when each person was required to appear in court.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of a person believed to have outstanding warrants for their arrest is asked to contact police directly, or in an emergency 9-1-1. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers.
