Prairie North Co-op gives back to three local food banks

Prairie North Co-op is sending a significant amount of money to local food banks as part of several initiatives.

Through programs like their Fuel Up to Fill Plates campaign, fundraising barbecues, and other events, Prairie North Co-op is donating nearly $10,000 to food banks in Kelvington, Melfort, and Naicam.

“This year, due to pressing need, the total donation is close to $10,000, whereas, over the last three years, that number combined was just over $12,000,” explained general manager Terry Tremblay in a news release.

Gas bar division manager Keith Mamer said Fuel Up to Fill Plates was initiated by the gas bar division, raising just under $6500 for food banks this year, up from $5000 last year.

“We are proud of our community giving and so thankful for the support of our members and customers as that is what allows us to give what we do,” said Tremblay. “In the spirit of creating community we are always looking for organizations to partner with to help us make a difference in the communities in which we all live, work, and do business.”
