Inmate escapes minimum security at Sask. Penitentiary
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of an inmate who was discovered missing from the minimum security unit at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert.
During the 9:30 p.m. count on Dec. 31, Glen Fredrick Richard Halkett was unaccounted for. Staff immediately contacted the Prince Albert detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police who then issued the warrant.
Halkett, 29, is currently serving a sentence of 2 years, 9 months, 3 days for break and enter with intent – not dwelling house, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 (x3), motor vehicle theft, flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation conveyance, mischief in relation to property over $5,000, obstruct public/peace officer, possession of a weapon contrary to prohibition order, failure to comply with order – at large, and failure to attend court – at large.
The inmate is approximately 5′ 8″, 168 lbs and has brown eyes and black hair and a tattoo on his neck and under his left eye.
