U18A Prince Albert Beachcomber Foxes finish second at year end tournament

Reflecting on her team’s performance this past weekend, the head coach of the U18A Prince Albert Beachcomber Foxes says she could not be prouder.

Jami Sumlic’s comment to paNOW, comes just a day removed from the team’s second place finish at a year end tournament in Moose Jaw. Sumlic chalked up the team’s success to one final pep talk the coaches gave the girls last week, reminding them they are there for them.

“They all came together very well and were able to pull off two wins and a tie,” she said.

There were seven teams at the tournament, and the Foxes’ only loss came against a very highly skilled team from Manitoba. In the A final, the Pat Canadians won 5-1.

After a rocky start to the season, the Foxes rallied and now sit in fifth place. Among the teams they beat, was the second place Comet Sting (2-1).

“So it goes to show you we can actually do it when we all come together,” Sumlic said.

The Beachcomber Foxes have more three more league games to play and then will get ready for provincials which are at the end of February.
