Wanted man arrested after standoff on Saulteaux First Nation
Battlefords RCMP have arrested a wanted man following a standoff on Saulteaux First Nation early Monday.
Police say a vehicle fled a traffic stop around 2 a.m. and was later found at a home. Several people ran inside and initially refused to come out.
Eight eventually exited, along with a dog that got into a fight with a police dog. An officer was injured while separating them and was treated for non-life-threatening condition. Also, the K-9 member was not seriously hurt.
After further investigation, police arrested a 22-year-old man from Cando, Sask., on charges including unlawful confinement, break and enter, and assault related to a March 13 incident on Red Pheasant First Nation.
