Robbery suspect arrested after crash in Meadow Lake

A 23-year-old man is facing multiple charges following a robbery and vehicle collision in Meadow Lake on the morning of Saturday, May 3.

According to a RCMP release issued Monday, officers responded to a report of a robbery on 8 Avenue around 7 a.m. Investigators determined several individuals were inside a vehicle when one of the occupants allegedly assaulted the others and stole the car.

Around the same time, police received a report of a collision on 2 Street West. The stolen vehicle had left the roadway, damaged fencing, and hit a parked car. No injuries were reported, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.

Mounties began searching the area with assistance from Police Dog Services and a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. The suspect was located and arrested at a house around 8 a.m.

The accused is charged with nine offences, including robbery with a weapon, assault with a weapon, impaired driving, theft of a motor vehicle, and mischief over $5,000. He appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Monday.
