Hudye Family donates $150,000 towards Mother/Baby Patient Room at Victoria Hospital

The expansion of the Victoria Hospital is coming together more and more every day, and the Hudye Family, has made a significant donation to help fund the equipment inside once the expansion is completed.

Owners of the Rally Motor Group which includes Mazda, Volkswagen, and Motorsports, the Hudye Family donated a total of $150,000 towards the Equip the Vic Campaign.

The money is going towards the mother/baby patient room in the hospital’s new maternity unit being built, and as a result the new room will be named after the Hudye Family in their honour. For Derryl Hudye, the Owner of the Rally Motor Group, this donation hits close to home.

“Both of my sons, Nick and Jeremy, as well as my grandchildren, Jackson and Brody, were born in this hospital, so to have the ability to contribute particularly to the department of the hospital that has looked after our family so well is exciting and was very important to us.”

Derryl continued, “This hospital project is something that we have wanted to support since the day we knew it was going to be expanding. It’s something that our community has needed for a long time, so we’re very grateful to be contributing towards this today.”

CEO of the Boreal Healthcare Foundation Cody Barnett said he couldn’t be more appreciative of the donation coming in. The build itself is a little over 25 per cent completed, and this donation will help majorly in supplying one of the fresh new units in the hospital’s expansion.

“We are deeply grateful to the Hudye Family for choosing to lead by example. Together, we are building a future where every person has access to the care they deserve, close to home,” Barnett said. “Gifts like this help us build a hospital that reflects the strength and spirit of the people it serves. A hospital ready to meet the needs of over 150,000 residents across northern Saskatchewan.”

With an increased capacity by about 40 per cent, add Saskatchewan’s first MRI scanner north of Saskatoon, expanded mental health services, and enhanced pediatric and maternal care, the $40 million expansion is expected to help serve another 10,000 patients yearly in Prince Albert and northern Saskatchewan.
