A man who recently served a three year prison sentence for repeated flights from police, is back in custody facing similar charges.

Germaine Michel, 33, was among three people arrested on Thursday after an incident north of Prince Albert that ended after two police vehicles got rammed.

Around 9a.m, the Prince Albert RCMP were called out to Highway 2 near the Diefenbaker Bridge after reports came in of a vehicle being driven by a man wanted by police, and the man was believed to be armed.

Officers responded and found the suspect vehicle parked on a service road in Redwing. Police surrounded the vehicle with their own vehicles and emergency equipment.

The suspect vehicle attempted to make an escape, first backing into one of the police vehicles before pulling forward into a second, and then got stuck trying to pull through the ditch to escape. That’s where police were able to arrest a male and two females.

Police also searched the vehicle to find a loaded rifle. No officers were hurst during the altercation, but two police vehicles were damaged.

The RCMP arrested 33-year-old Germaine Michel from Southend, who was previously charged with flight from police in 2023. Along with being arrested on outstanding warrants from both the Prince Albert Police Service and Correctional Service Canada, this time around Germaine was charged with:

  • one count of flight from a police officer
  • three counts of mischief over $5000
  • four counts of operation while prohibited
  • one count of refusal to comply with alcohol demand
  • one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • two counts of assault on a police officer with a weapon
  • one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer
  • one count of being unlawfully at large
  • one count of unsafe storage of a firearm
  • one count of possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
  • one count of possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
  • one count of weapons possession contrary to order

Also arrested was Shelby Donald, 31, from Prince Albert, and Jonie Michel, 25, from Southend. Both were charged with:

  • one count of possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized
  • one count of possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
  • one count of unsafe storage of a firearm
  • one count of weapons possession contrary to order

Shelby Donald was also wanted on multiple warrants earlier this year.

Donald also received a charge for one count of failing to comply with a release order condition, while Michel received three counts of the same charge.

All three accused have pending court dates.
