Three years after Keith Herzog was killed in a collision at a rural intersection west of Emma Lake, the driver of the stolen vehicle has been arrested and charged.
Prince Albert RCMP have charged 29-year-old Raven Bird from Sturgeon Lake with dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after the scene of a collision causing death, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Herzog, who was 64 at the time, was killed in the early morning hours of April 4, 2022, while on his way to work at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. The car he was driving collided with a stolen 2001 GMC Sierra at the intersection of Highway 263 and Okema Beach Road.
Prior to working at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary’s maintenance department, Keith Herzog had been a dedicated farmer for over 40 years and also sat on the RM of Shellbrook council. (Beau Lac Funeral Home)
