More than $2.49 million in charitable gaming grants has been distributed across Saskatchewan, including over $207,000 for groups in the Meadow Lake region and more than $269,000 for organizations in the Prince Albert area.

Lotteries and Gaming Saskatchewan (LGS) said the money went to more than 1,000 groups across 250 communities in the first quarter of 2025-26.

“Our government is committed to delivering for Saskatchewan communities and one of the ways we do that is through charitable gaming grants,” Minister Responsible for LGS Jeremy Harrison said in a statement.

“Proceeds from gaming in Saskatchewan support charitable organizations and activities across the province, including the arts, culture and sport, hospital foundations, service clubs and more.”

In Meadow Lake, recipients included the Flying Dust Youth and Disabled Wish Foundation, which received $2,196.75; the Meadow Lake Curling Club Inc., which received $6,132.51; the Meadow Lake Gymnastics Corp., which received $725; and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 76, which received $1,145.01.

In Prince Albert, recipients included Prince Albert Female Hockey, which received $9,271.83; the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club Inc., which received $4,979.81; the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans in Canada Prince Albert Unit 222 Inc., which received $5,176.24; the Prince Albert U18 AAA Mintos, which received $2,632.50; and the Lions Wilderness Experience Inc., which received $4,330.95.

In North Battleford, organizations received more than $75,000. The largest grant — $55,815.89 — went to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation Inc. Other recipients included the Battlefords’ North Stars Hockey Club Inc. with $13,615.98, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Battlefords with $401.25 and the Canadian Mental Health Association Battlefords Branch Inc. with $518.75.

Humboldt groups received $28,073.04, with major recipients including the Humboldt Broncos Junior A Hockey Association Inc. ($14,093.46), the Humboldt and Area Antique and Vintage Club ($5,290.85) and the Humboldt Curling Club Inc. ($2,856.61).

Melfort organizations shared $14,863.66. Among them were the Kinsmen Club of Melfort Inc. ($5,188.50), the Melfort Storm Volleyball Club ($1,475), the Melfort Elks Lodge 89 ($1,272.99) and the Melfort and District Wildlife Federation ($707.94).

Charitable gaming grants are paid to groups in good standing that hold licensed events such as bingos, raffles, breakopen ticket sales, poker tournaments and Monte Carlo nights.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority calculates the amounts, which equal 25 per cent of the net revenue raised at each event, to a maximum of $100,000 per group annually.
