RCMP looking for suspects after Wednesday bear spray assault

Aug 1, 2025 | 3:07 PM

RCMP are investigating after two people were assaulted and sprayed with bear spray in Meadow Lake early Wednesday morning.

Police say officers were called to the 700 block of 5th Avenue West at around 4:19 a.m. on July 30. Investigators determined that a group of individuals assaulted a man, then deployed bear spray at him and another woman.

Both victims were taken to hospital, where RCMP said the man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the woman was treated for injuries consistent with bear spray exposure.

The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived.

Mounties are asking residents in the area to review any video or doorbell camera footage from the early morning hours of July 30 for suspicious activity.

“If you captured any suspicious activity or information that may be relevant to this investigation, or have any information about this incident, report it to police,” RCMP said in a release Friday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Meadow Lake RCMP at 306-310-RCMP (7267) or submit tips anonymously to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
