2025 Prince Albert Exhibition ready to kick off

Aug 4, 2025 | 2:30 PM

The Prince Albert Exhibition is set to start this week with the kickoff parade going on Tuesday. The first event of the five day celebration of the city starts with a pancake breakfast at the exhibition grounds starting at 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, leading into the parade at 6:00 p.m. later that day.

It isn’t just going to be the rides from Canadian West Coast Rides coming to town though according to Exhibition General Manager Debra Despins. There’s going to be all kinds of outdoor activities for anyone and everyone to enjoy.

“We are super excited. All the tents are going up and the grounds are just abuzz just getting everything ready for the big five days from August 6th to the 10th.” She added that the parade should have tons of folks ready to kick things off. “We’ve got a very good number of entrants that will be participating and it’s usually always a fantastic show, so we’re very excited about having all of this get organized.”

For rodeo enthusiasts, there are a ton of events planned to come back from last year, and some that are returning after a long hiatus. Aside from the award winning Northern Canadian Professional Chuck Wagon and Chariot Championship, there’s a lot more animal events coming to this year’s exhibition.

“We do have the 4H and light horse show happening. We’re bringing back some heavy horse performances that are going to have the halter class, the chore class, the cart class, the wagon class, so that that’ll be new. I think the last time we had it was probably six years ago. We’re also going to have the heavy horse pull, that will be happening on Friday and Saturday, and, of course, the petting zoo will be there, and Monday only, we are going to have the PA Kennel and Obedience Club dog performance happening at 7:30.”

There’s also going to be a demolition derby on Sunday with fireworks coming afterwards.

Security has been a topic of debate leading into similar events around the province this year, and the Prince Albert Exhibition isn’t ignoring that. This year, they have stepped up their security measures to help keep the exhibition both fun and safe.

“At each of our gates, we are doing wanding, we’re doing bag checks, we have extra security around the grounds, we have the PA Police Service helping us out. We’re going to have child find bracelets this year, for some folks who do lose their kids in the crowd that’s kind of a nice thing to have, and we’ll also have first aid walking around the grounds. So we are very much aware of the issues that do plague many, many organizations and many areas, and we are definitely taking the best steps we can to ensure safety for all people.”

Along with the added security this year, you will also notice a ton of volunteers around helping with the events. Despins wanted to thank the volunteers in advance, who have already done so much to make the next five days of fun happen.

“I’ll tell you, it’s just been amazing that the community has stepped forward and people have brought us their resumés and gave us where they’d like to work. So we’re definitely putting them to good use to make this event very successful.”

A lot of the events at the exhibition this year are included with the price of admission. While you can’t pay for admission now, you can get your ride tickets for $49.95. The office at the exhibition grounds is open until 4:00 p.m. on the long weekend Monday, August 4th, and the last day for ride ticket sales is Tuesday, August 5 all the way until 4:00 p.m.
