Lake Country Co-op Aquatic centre pool to open next week

In a long awaited moment, the City of Prince Albert said the new aquatic centre will open to the public next Thursday, August 28.

For the first week, alternative programming will allow swimmers to try lane swims, aquafit and public swim.

“Opening the aquatics area of the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre is a major milestone for our community,” said Jody Boulet, Director for Parks, Recreation and Culture for the City of Prince Albert.

Starting on August 21 to September 7, a week long series of events will start, including a new program of Sensory Swim, which is geared for people are sensitive to noise and other stimulations.

“This facility provides something for everyone, from families and seniors to fitness enthusiasts and those who may not have been comfortable in traditional swim settings. We’re proud to introduce programs like Sensory Swim that make aquatics more inclusive and accessible for all residents.”

In the lead-up to opening, the following modified schedule will run from August 25-30:

Public Swim dates and pricing

Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre Aquatics Area Pricing:
5 and under: Free, Youth and Senior: $7.50, Adult: $12.75, and Family: $40.00

The Aquatic Area capacity is 200 people.

  • Thursday, August 28, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday, August 29, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and
  • Saturday, August 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Lane Swim: August 25-29 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Aquasize: August 25-29 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., and August 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The full schedule for opening week and the rest of September will be available on August 27 at http://citypa.ca/swimming. The expanded opening week schedule, starting August 31, will also feature:

  • Public Swims
  • Family Swims
  • Senior Swims
  • Parent & Tot Swims
  • Lane Swims
  • Aquafit Classes

Additional programming, such as swimming lessons, facility rentals, and advanced aquatic training courses, will be announced in the coming weeks.
