La Ronge voters will head to the polls Oct. 8 for a by-election.
Four residents have put their name forward during the nomination period including Ken Beaven, Cody Docken, Bruce Skilliter, and Glen Watchel. The by-election is necessary after the sudden resignation of Terry Hunt back in May.
Hunt decided to resign because of what he considered political infighting, administrative pushback, and a lack of progress.
The by-election will mark the first time in more than four years La Ronge residents will vote for municipal representation. Mayor Joe Hordyski and the other current five councillors all gained their seats due to acclamation as there was low interest in joining council in 2024.
