The Prince Albert Police Service is providing an update to a series of armed robberies that have occurred in the city and confirming four people have been charged.

Between August 29 and September 4, officers responded to 10 reported armed robberies and attempted carjackings within the city. Two additional incidents occurred in RCMP jurisdiction during this same timeframe.

Following an intensive investigation led by the Proactive Policing Unit, with assistance from multiple PAPS sections and support from the RCMP, four individuals have been arrested and charged in relation to four of these investigations.

“These recent incidents have had a significant impact on the sense of safety in our community. I want to acknowledge the resiliency and professionalism of our police service as work was done to console victims, gather vital information from witnesses, and bring forward those responsible for these crimes,” Police Chief Patrick Nogier said in a statement. “Activities of this nature will not be tolerated in Prince Albert. Our Service remains steadfast in ensuring that residents feel safe and secure, and we will continue to pursue those who seek to disrupt our community with the full weight of the law. Those who choose to engage in violence and intimidation will be held accountable.”

At this stage, charges have been laid in four Prince Albert files connected to three carjacking-style robberies and one aggravated assault investigation in which a firearm was discharged at a victim. RCMP have also laid charges in one related robbery investigation.

Those charged include 28-year-old Jordan Kerfoot who faces 32 charges including robbery, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, firearms offences, disguise with intent, and breach of probation.

Scott McCallum, 26, is facing 28 charges including robbery, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, firearms offences, disguise with intent, and breach of undertaking.

Both Mary Rose Daigneault and William Charles Hunt were charged and remanded on firearms-related offences; additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues.

RCMP investigation

On September 3, at approximately 6 p.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of an armed robbery that occurred near the intersection of Bibby Road and Elevator Road.

Officers responded immediately. The investigation determined four individuals physically assaulted a male victim, stole his SUV, and fled the scene.

The victim was transported to hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The SUV was located at a residence on Muir Drive in Prince Albert. Four adult males were called out of the residence and arrested without incident by Prince Albert RCMP and Prince Albert Police Service.
