Prince Albert’s best-known philanthropist, Malcolm Jenkins, has once again stepped forward with a large donation, this time to the fundraising campaign for the Boreal Health Care Foundation, which has a campaign to buy equipment for the Victoria Hospital.

The donation was being made through his Family Foundation and is tied to the recent sold-out performances of Grease at the EA Rawlinson Centre, which featured a cameo by Jenkins himself.

“Only Malcolm could grab the spotlight that way with a single scene, and still manage to give it all away,” said Cody Barnett, CEO of the Boreal Healthcare Foundation. “His gift to the Equip the Vic Campaign is an incredible example of how one person’s creativity and commitment can rally a community and change the future of healthcare in our region.”

Jenkins appeared on stage as Teen Angel, a part he first played in 1997, when Broadway North Theatre Company first put on the play.

The 2025 run of the show saw over 4,600 audience members throughout the multiple performances. Jenkins, a longtime supporter and participant in the theatre troupe, was committed to a $20/ticket sold donation to the hospital.

With the expansion to the Victoria Hospital well underway, so are the efforts to buy the items needed to run it properly. The campaign has a goal of $40 million.

Coming up next is Give a Little Life Day on December 5, a live radiothon that goes all day.

Campaign organizers are looking for 20 Community Champions that will commit to raising $1,000 each but also rely on community groups for pledges and the public.

The hospital serves more than 150,000 people across the North and will include expanded mental health services, maternal and pediatric care, surgical suites, and diagnostic imaging, including the region’s first MRI. Jenkins’ donation will support the campaign’s ability to reduce patient transfers, enhance local care, and keep families closer to home.
