Rock the Ville buys new playhouse for Albertville children

Sep 24, 2025 | 12:55 PM

As a result of another successful Rock the Ville event, a new door has opened for children in the Albertville area.

The bright blue playhouse structure was unveiled on Sunday and the $7,000 price tag came directly from the concert’s profits. Bernadette Lavoie is one of the event’ co-planners and said the playhouse has always been her dream.

“I just think they are so magical and I think every playground needs one,” she said.

Sunday’s celebration included an official ribbon-cutting and free hot dogs for the kids.

“We ran out of hot dogs and it was just flooded with kids and parents and it was amazing.”

Rock the Ville was started in 2023. Bernadette Lavoie and Lizanne Yoemans, who grew up and live in the Albertville area, wanted to do something that could shine a spotlight on local arts community and its many talented musicians.

Over 1,200 people attended this year’s event on June 20 and they came from all corners of Saskatchewan and Alberta.

“It’s turned into a reunion place, and friends who haven’t seen each other in 30 or 40 years,” Lavoie commented.

There were 20 performers throughout the day and in addition to local talent, there were tribute bands from other parts of the country.

“Before it was like we were asking people to volunteer for us, but now people are coming to us. We just feel so important.”

Since the event’s inception, over $100,000 has been donated back into the community and has included a beautiful post-and-beam gazebo, electrical systems for the camping sites, and renovations and upgrades to the community centre.

Looking ahead, Rock the Ville 4.0 is scheduled for June 20, 2026.
