RM of Buckland warns residents of e-transfer fraud

Residents in the Rural Municipality of Buckland No.491 are being asked to immediately stop all e-transfer payments as the administration works with authorities to manage fraudulent activity connected to their digital payment system.

Administration from the RM issued the notice on Sept. 29 just before 5 pm.

Anyone who has sent an e-transfer between Sept. 25 and Sept 29 should call their bank immediately and take steps to verify and secure their money.

They should also call the RM office at 306-763-2585 as soon as possible.

The RM said that, so far, at least three victims of fraud have been identified as having their transfers intercepted and re-routed to an unknown address.
