A 46-year-old man is facing several charges after a shooting at a home in North Battleford early Monday left another man seriously injured.

RCMP say officers responded to a report of a shooting around 1:25 a.m. at a house on 113th Street.

Investigators determined an altercation occurred between two men when a firearm was discharged, injuring one of them. The victim was taken to hospital by EMS with serious injuries, while the other man was arrested at the scene.

Police say a subsequent search of the residence led to the seizure of a handgun, ammunition and about 35 grams of cocaine.

Blane Lajeunesse, 46, of North Battleford, is charged with discharge of a firearm with intent, aggravated assault, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.

He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday.
