The Nipawin Hawks got back in the win column at home Tuesday, now the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) club needs to find their road mojo again.

Nipawin won their first four games on the road this season but on Oct. 17 and 18 the Hawks suffered back-to-back blowout losses away from the Centennial Arena.

Friday Nipawin is back on the road in Humboldt to face the Broncos.

The Hawks downed La Ronge 7-3 Tuesday picking up their eighth win on the season. Carson Parks, a 16-year-old call up from Pilot Butte sparked the offense with a pair of goals in his SJHL debut. Head Coach Tad Kozun said both Parks and callup Davey Fisher provided some life to the forward group.

“We hadn’t been scoring like we know we can, and to see Carson [Parks] come in and score a pair, Davey [Fisher] had chances too, we just like the breath of fresh air those two brought to a banged up forward group,” Kozun said.

Nipawin is missing several regulars up front including captain Finley Radloff, and returnees Van Taylor and Jack Drake. Despite having several injuries, including 20-year-old defenseman Brady Seabrook, Nipawin sits with a record of eight victories and three losses.

The Broncos have won three straight games heading into the first meeting with the Hawks. Kozun said the visit to the Elgar Petersen Arena will be another tough test for the Hawks on the road.

“Humboldt is a great home team, especially on the weekends,” Kozun said. “We have went into a couple barns this year and knocked off some good teams, we can do it again. We just need to be ready from opening faceoff. Our starts away from home of late have left us chasing and that can’t be the case heading into tonight.”

Gage Roberts is expected to get the call in net for the Hawks after a night off Tuesday versus the Ice Wolves.

Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The pregame show of Nipawin Chrysler Dodge Hawks Hockey on 750 Beach Radio will start at 7:15 p.m.
