William Leonard fired in four goals as he led the Yorkton Terriers to a 7-2 win over the Warman Wolverines, snapping the Wolverines’ two game winning streak in the last of a four-game homestand at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex.

The Wolverines hit the ice fresh off a 6-3 win over the Melville Millionaires on Friday night. Yorkton aimed to bounce back and put some points on the board after being shutout at the hands of the Flin Flon Bombers by a score of 11-0 on Friday.

Cash Lanigan started the scoring for the Terriers in the first period when he netted his second goal of the season on the power play. Leonard collected his first goal of the game and sixth on the season to further extend the lead to 2-0 after one period in favour of Yorkton.

Leonard added another goal to his total in the second period when he beat Griffin Wright to give the Terriers a three goal lead. The Wolverines got on the board when Riley Rich-Holden took away the shutout bid on the powerplay, trimming the lead down to two with the Terriers up 3-1. Mikale Budz restored the three-goal lead for the Terriers when he racked up his second goal of the season, closing the second period with a 4-1 lead for Yorkton.

In the third, Leonard picked up right where he left off by completing his hat trick with his eighth of the season to push the Terriers lead to 5-1. Ethan Dundas got that one back for Warman, scoring for the second straight game to trim the deficit to three. But Leonard capped off his spectacular night with his fourth of the game and Quinn Tavender scored his second of the season to put the Yorkton Terriers back into the win column, cruising to a 7-2 victory.

The Wolverines are still sitting in fourth place in the Nutrien Division at 3-9-1 while the Terriers occupy third in the Bunge Division with a record of 6-6-1. The Wolverines will hit the road when they go head to head the Kindersley Klippers for the third time this season on Tuesday at 12 p.m. Every Wolverines home and away game can be heard on SaskNow.com.
