Impaired driving charge laid after fatal crash west of Prince Albert

Almost one year after a fatal crash west of Prince Albert claimed the life of a 61-year-old man, RCMP have confirmed news of an arrest.

David Olsen from Prince Albert appeared Thursday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

He has been charged with operation of a conveyance while impaired causing death; operation of a conveyance with blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood causing death; operation of a conveyance while impaired bodily harm; and operation of a conveyance with blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood causing death.

On Nov. 29, 2024, a portion of Highway 3, just west of Prince Albert, was closed following a crash between an SUV and a truck.

The passenger of the SUV, 61-year-old Collin Peeteetuce from Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Meanwhile, the female driver of the SUV, along with the male driver and the sole occupant of the truck, were taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

Olsen’s case returns to court on Nov. 18 at 1:30 p.m.
