Timmerman terrific as Wolverines down Bombers
A strong showing by Taye Timmerman coupled with some timely scoring proved to be the difference for the Warman Wolverines in a 5-2 win over the Flin Flon Bombers on Tuesday night at the Warman Home Centre Communiplex.
Pherson Loehndorf scored twice as part of a three-point effort while Riley Rich-Holden and Kane Kennedy each tallied a goal and an assist but the night belonged to Timmerman, who made 45 saves to backstop Warman’s second straight victory over a division leader following Saturday’s defeat of the Weyburn Red Wings.
“It felt great, I felt loose. I like games where I get a lot of shots so it was a good game,” Timmerman said.
The Bombers, who beat the Wolverines twice in Flin Flon in early October, got off to a good start with Sam Ward scoring his fourth goal of the season just over seven minutes into the game, however, the lead did not last for long. Less than three minutes later, Rich-Holden rifled his eighth goal of the year past Bombers goaltender Devin Peck to level the score at one.
