Big night leads Hawks past Wolverines
The Nipawin Hawks enjoyed a dominant performance in their second meeting with the Warman Wolverines as they powered to a 10-1 victory on Saturday night at Centennial Arena in Nipawin.
The Wolverines went into their only game of the weekend having split a pair of two-game series against the Weyburn Red Wings and the Flin Flon Bombers. The Hawks started things off in the opening 20 minutes of play when Mason Karakochuk fired in his sixth goal and first power play marker of the season to make it 1-0. Noah Heinrich and Eric Hoiness each added to the Nipawin lead by the end of the first period.
The second period came and the Hawks kept flying when Noah Derouin put one home and Hoiness said twice is nice with his second of the game to extend the Nipawin lead before Finley Radloff scored to push it further at 6-0.
Cam Sarna ended the Gage Roberts shutout bid with his sixth goal of the season but the Wolverines still trailed 6-1 after two periods of play.
