Mustangs snap four-game slide

Nov 30, 2025 | 5:07 AM

The Melfort Mustangs are back in the winners’ circle following Saturday night’s home affair.

Melfort won its first game in two weeks, snapping a four-game slide in the process, with a 6-2 victory over the Warman Wolverines.

The Mustangs opened the scoring less than five minutes into the first period, as a Bo Eisner power play goal sent the stuffed animals flying on Teddy Bear Toss night.

While Warman equalized the game later on in the frame, it was virtually all Stangs after that, as the home squad scored the lone two goals of the second period, before burying three of the four in the final stanza.

The Blue and Green were a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill on the night, while going 2-for-4 on the power play, including a successful penalty shot attempt, to win their ninth game of the season.

For netminder Kason Kobelka, meanwhile, it was his seventh victory of the season, as he stopped 25 of the 27 shots that came his way.

Melfort is now 2 and 1 against Warman this season, with both of said victories happening at the Northern Lights Palace.

Saturday’s contest was the fourth straight game at home for the Mustangs, with next Friday set to wrap up their five-game homestand.

The clash with the Wolverines also concluded the team’s annual parent-billet weekend.
